Direct Action 24

The mission of DA24 is to increase Local 24 members' involvement in the labor movement by providing volunteer personnel to all labor activism. Working under their leadership, we hope to build relationships between union workers across industries and improve solidarity within our own ranks while positively contributing to the labor movement as a whole.

By forming a group of dedicated IBEW members, who show up wherever personnel needs are requested, i.e. direct action, Local 24 will have a prominent visible and audible effect on labor activism. This will benefit Local 24 in many respects. First, it will encourage members who participate to help build solidarity in Local 24. Second, it will create good faith between our union and others in the area. Third, it will allow our own Local 24 leaders an opportunity to step into an expanded role in the Baltimore Metropolitan Area.

We are looking to recruit members who are interested in the labor movement, educate them on the issues and organizing efforts in the area, and expose them to what it's like to fight for many of the benefits our union has already achieved. It is, of course, imperative that any members of this group take the rules and procedures of Local 24 and Maryland seriously. We are representatives of Local 24 first and foremost.
